“It’s a wonderful event to honor all volunteers as a group,” said Becky Costlow St. Paul’s Thrift Shop Manager. “We hope we do a good job of honoring each individual all year.”
The luncheon was catered by the St. Paul’s Cooking Ministry, and we are grateful for their service as well as for everyone who attended.
At the luncheon, two volunteers were honored with awards for their dedication and work at the Thrift Shop.
Wayne Brunson was awarded The Nifty Thrifty Award for Volunteer of The Year.
Director of the Thrift Shop Board, Jane Shoultz, said about Wayne in her speech:
Wayne has worked on the sorting and pricing table three mornings a week for two years. He says one of the highlights of his week is to work at the Thrift Shop. He enjoys fellowship of the other Thrift Shop volunteers, especially coming in a little early to help solve the world’s problems over a cup of coffee with Dale and Borden.
The Life Time Achievement Award was given to Airrior Norwood for her 30 plus years of service to the Thrift Shop.
“I think it is safe to say that all of us would like to grow up to be just like this wonderful lady!” Jane Shoultz said. “We love you and appreciate all you do! It is very appropriate that you are this year’s Lifetime Achievement recipient.”
Airrior volunteers once a week at the Thrift Shop. She has served on the Thrift Shop Board, served on the Church Vestry, and attends church every Sunday, as well as almost all of the church functions.
“No body is more deserving that Airrior of this award,” said Thrift Shop Director Linda Davis-Monley. “Her commitment to serving others is an example to all of us.”
